When I see the measurements in such concise terms, or see a photo of the planet from space … 2 sentiments well up inside me, both of which have been often articulated by Carl Sagan and his ilk: 1) earth is a speck, a unique space station whose habitat and inhabitants have enjoyed a atmospheric run of life hospitality in an enormous cosmos of mostly inhospitable volume, 2) given our quirky and fortunate gift why can we not rouse our rational potential to a level of better treatment of each other and our habitat?
