WHEN ASKED ABOUT ChatGPT

Yes. I played with it in the same way as millions of people — it’s open source and so there are lots of different APPS springing up — including one for detecting when something has been generated by AI.

AI is a subset of machine intelligence in the same way our thoughts, reason, logic, feelings and emotions are a subset of our brain, mind/body, the common consciousness that CG Jung postulated (if it exists). What we call “instinct” in animals is of course a subset of some underlying infrastructure of genetic, epigenetic intelligence — and all of it (the organic and inorganic “intelligence”) is simply subsets of apparent laws that govern the energies and elements of our cosmos (including our theory of evolution). If “God” is a “creator” then of course we are in a rules based simulation. For “Christians” (as an example) the Bible says there was only darkness and void and God spoke and created (something out of nothing is a simulation though that inescapable logic makes church people uncomfortable). If it is some sort of base reality it is predictable enough for us to use the most universal language, math, to model and predict behavior. There is, in sum, nothing exceptional about potentiality for machine intelligence, it’s simply part of a broader phenomenon we call the known cosmos.

Hardware, software and communications are progressing at a non-linear rate so the underlying machine intelligence capabilities are improving exponentially.

It raises questions such as how much more quickly can we develop fusion (our own tiny man made “stars”) technology if only we apply the aid of machine intelligence which circles back to Neuralink and expanded machine intelligence to human intelligence communication and collaboration.

We will have to adopt something along these lines quickly in the military and intelligence communities otherwise less well intended nation states will have super soldiers and America will lose military dominance virtually overnight.

The lowest hanging fruit for machine intelligence is surveillance so the ability for China to become absolutely authoritarian is an apocalyptic drama sometimes unconsidered. So is the idea of machine intelligence generated incredibly novel bio weapons capable of obliterating humans in mass. I assume Greta Thunberg is sincere about her concern for apocalyptic global warming — if so she is far too abbreviated in her list of potentially extinguishing developments or (more optimistically) potential solutions.

The implications for relevance of various vocations is enormous. I find it difficult to deduce skills and learning techniques that have the best odds for 2045. The idea of a “trend” becomes increasingly irrelevant depending on velocity of novelty and change.

That’s a longer text answer than you probably expected but since you were complimentary enough to think of me upon reading the ChatGPT output it prompted a response I mull over quite a bit these days.

BTW, if we are in a simulation it would be nothing like the movie “The Matrix” which is built around the idea of illusion. In the spirit of AI any simulation would be incorporating all data into its probabilities and adaptation so any attempt to parse the simulation would simply produce superior or additional variables for fabrication by the simulation.

On that tangent Walmart is a simulation and artificial intelligence. Instead of “hunting gathering”, using fire, using agriculture or physical markets like peasants who came market square in their feudal area — we use advanced tools (GPS tractors), chemical processed fertilizer, harvesting, transportation, logistics, computer tracking, modern facility fabrication and artificial climate control to make meat, vegetables, fruits, processed foods and even whole meals available without touching dirt, animal or speaking a word. That’s actually a fairly sophisticated simulation accomplished by quite a bit of machine intelligence.

Imagine running all of your bio information from your watch, all your email, receipts, texts, GPS, video monitoring, facial recognition, exercise, internet access, medical records results, 23&Me DNA, phone calls, etc. through an advanced ChatGPT and having it tell you who you are and where you could make better decisions within the realistic possibilities of your organic structure and nature. Better than 3 sessions a week with a therapist!
