What a wonderful piece. I picked up the concluding reference about “God” thanks to a fellow responder (how wonderful is “Medium”?). It seems to me an alternative and poetic way to phrase the worn platitude “It’s not about me” — a sentiment that in my view may be an all time champion understatement. It could be that our advanced cognition is a horrific crippling impairment, a handicap, to Einstein’s famous reference to the persistent illusion of separateness. Perhaps the “where is God” question in a post-modern world is dirt, fire, water, air — not just in their supernova origins but in non-geometric, non-relative connection between the tiniest inorganic quark in my body simultaneously undivided with an ordinary quark always just outside the farthest edge of the known cosmos — at this instant. This pontification has lead to thought for the word for the year, “silence”. I’ll go look to make sure it has been submitted.
