Tim I enjoyed the article and the responses. My submission response is that it might be worthwhile to add “and perhaps unconscious mind or even the Greek concept of psyche” as in “Consciousness, and perhaps the unconscious or psyche (if it exists), are critical to answering the question: what is truth?”.

The motive I have for this response is in acknowledgment of C.G. Jung and many others who point out that we do have dreams (about 6 per night, we cannot consciously control dreams) and biology is rarely wasteful of energy. We seem to have patterns of life and behaviors which are persistent without conscious calculation. There is evidence for the theory.

This theory of an unconscious aspect of mind and also the theory of soul or psyche seems to me to have been put on the back burner (at least as a matter of attempted objective investigation) in recent decades and I’m not sure that it is optimal for progress in answering what is true.
