This was a gut wrenching article to read. I have lost family, aunts and uncles, to Covid. My older brother suffered through 4 days of total dementia. I remember going to the rehab facility to see my brother and other than being stunned by the level of debilitation of a man who had played racket ball 3 weeks before … I was stunned by the determination and goodwill of the staff. The fatigue and wear was heartbreaking evident in their eyes and faces. They were exhausted on so many level yet continuing to interact with a determined humanity that will leave me forever inspired. They smiled, they interacted and answered questions. How could those, mostly middle aged women, carry on like that?
As to Mr. Cuomo, I live in Texas and try to stay away from social media and the “news”. I do have this comment: What state was hit any harder than NY? Mr. Cuomo had 10 months to prepare people, process and tools to roll out the vaccine when it did arrive and NY is at 10% of first dose when a checked just now — a mediocre “middle of pack” lukewarm number. I’m not buying whatever he is selling — the data not to mention this emotional article has given me better food for thought.
