There is another factor at work — the investment, passion, incentive to improve the battery. Our best and brightest researchers know if they could invent a leap in battery performance they would literally go into history books like Tesla, Edison, Volta (top of mind, the list goes on). That’s a lot of motivation. Secondly the investors are digging through the data determinedly looking for a winner and an angle. Why would an investor is search beyond income and balance sheet on a combustion based opportunity?

What a wonderful opportunity for a statistically professional organized research poll. With supplies limited on existing new cars (rental car companies are predicting a 2021 summer shortage of inventory and higher prices) a perfect storm may be brewing for a change that is more radical in volume and velocity than commonly imagined.

I work to spend time trying to get a glimpse into the minds of people born after 1995. They think differently. We may all be in for some surprises. This may be a cultural shift as much as a technology shift.
