There are a lot of things at play in this long sentence. At 78 the glow on one’s face is coming from the exit sign, as a healthy and fit 68 year old I know this feeling. President Biden is a Catholic and though I am not Catholic I love and appreciate practicing Catholics because (always dangerous to make generalizations and stereotypes), for me, what I notice about Catholics in my life is they actually do pragmatic, serving, giving and kind works which I see in the mainstream Protestant church I attend but painfully absent from some of the hardcore ideological Protestant churches in the neighborhood. Ever notice that sometimes really teeth gnashing anti-abortionist folks are equally virulent against help programs (volunteer or government) for young children, education investments and single moms?

These are cultural and generalized swags at background. The most salient hard dollar fact is that trickle down has proven not to work — but investment in poor and infrastructure is a windfall to the wealthy and cooperations. No one benefits more from these areas of investment than big business, the rich and main-street small business. It takes narrow minded and ideological blinded greed and self-righteous egotism to discount the holistic benefits of raising the opportunity and circumstances of the economically disadvantaged. It took an amazingly perverted and self destructive bent for the poor and uneducated rural white population to become Trump supporters. History will look back and have endless hypothesis about irrational cultural populism.
