Thank you Mr. President. We all have a reality to choose. I choose one of a hopeful new age consecrated on “harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abounding, no more falsehoods or derisions”.

We must begin by addressing thousands dying everyday and support President Biden’s commitment to deliver and administer 100 million vaccines in his first 100 days to stop the scourge of the pandemic. I believe we must call on all resources — the greatest logistical system in the world our US military, the greatest distribution systems in the world the US economy — and all of our local civic, school and church facilities of all faiths to be united in fulfilling this humanitarian goal. America is strongest when faced with a challenge that calls on all of us.

We must begin to heal the fractures by reaching out to disenfranchised rural and under-heard citizens by equalizing the playing field and creating new foundations of authority, sanctity and tradition.

If FDR could create the Tennessee Valley Authority as an infrastructure we can create the Rural Broadband Authority to bring all of America into the lights of a connected age.

If we could create the greatest education, vocational and higher education system in the world we can apply ingenuity to a 21st century educational system that enables every child and adult of every race, creed and color to be furnished the tools to reach their highest potential regardless of geography or economic circumstance.

If we conquered polio and nearly doubled life expectancy in the 20th century we can with compromise and resilient determination continue what is sure to be a decades long evolution to deliver quality healthcare and affordable freedom from consequences of major healthcare life or death catastrophes.

“If” is a big word that requires determination, commitment, bold action and a courageous and audacious vision and engagement of the whole of the citizen to a high calling. I believe we have seen the edge of abyss and will draw back instead to holding a welcoming torch of freedom and decency held high on the highest hill.

Thank you for making a statement on Medium.
