Thank you Lauren for, as usual, a well written blog. I am in alignment almost 100% — supporting passionately that civil reasoned calm discourse is the antidote to our strained system — not blind ideological emotion. I would call myself left leaning and very concerned about the demagoguery, lying, actions and apparent motives of the current presidency. I clapped, and, in fair response I picked up on one word in the whole article that concerns me. “Rage” is not a position that I respond to well from any political view. I’m determined to be kind and open minded and listen. When confronted by anyone who is in a state of “rage” I have so work a lot harder to listen to them because rage is a emotion that has an expression and tone that lacks the nature of civil and courteous voice of reason and dialogue. I think perhaps some people might be like me and maybe interpret “rage” as a common denominator of non-cooperatives belligerents from both from left and right wings of politics.
