Texas Electric Crazy

This is a perfect example of insanity. Yesterday was a cloudless perfect day in Texas. See all the toothless gaps in my solar production onto Texas ERCOT grid? That is 100% money going OUT of TEXAN pockets. Gripe about taxes and flush money down the toilet while you whine. It is ERCOT overproducing wasted electricity, constantly bringing online supplemental unneeded production to “practice” for a 6 below zero or 120 degree day demand. Slamming the barn door shut day after day once the cow is long gone (we had a electrical outage in Texas during a recent record cold). They do not need to do this everyday at a huge cost to we the consumers. ERCOT needs to be in process and systems meetings documenting root cause and root fix. The meetings need to include engineers, planning, information technology and most important input from field operators.

Forget politicians including whoever the FOX or CNN pet hero or pet villain is (to stir your fear and anger for attention) and the water walking slogan slinging BS media pundits. Set aside debates about short term use of nuclear, coal, gas, wind, solar whatever those are total BS emotional drama that is in the rear view mirror — a discussion time waster.

Focus on the future. The objective has to be intelligence, agility, flexibility, resiliency, automation, maintainability, disaster recovery, security, planning cycles, measurement, data collection, distribution and long term sustainability especially the environment while meeting the needs economically. A balancing act that requires adult calm wisdom. In the short term forget emotional vigilante behavior. Focus on unifying around really getting things done that are a solution for a huge economy. Stop arguing about immediate technology energy source and focus on solution which includes meeting the needs long term while being environmentally conscious.
