Steven what I enjoyed most about this essay is 1) that it did not carry an external agenda or ideology and work backwards from the bias and 2) is intrinsically unifying and consciousness enhancing not divisive and simplistically isolating. If there is some type of cosmic intrinsic law of consciousness progress or “God” or both or something else then of course statistics make clear that as a circumstance of nature miscarriage and still birth are the dominate forms of failure to achieve the process between fertilized egg and breathing separated human. If uncertain pregnancy is part of the vicissitudes of nature (or whatever one prefers to ascribe as behavioral oversight for the cosmos based on our very limited current knowledge) and seems to have a somewhat paradoxical approach to life … why can’t we adopt an friendlier, less divisive, more uncertain and kinder approach to the abortion question ourselves? “In the round” is the perfect phrase for awkward uncertainty, infinity, paradox and complexity of unknown. I think you have outlined a way to discharge fear, anger, ideology and division and reframe the discussion into uncertainty and collective consciousness respectful balance and tolerance. Most of the polemic political and religious ideological sects will recoil from this idea of rational, humble and civil … courteous and open hearted / open minded discussion.
