Let’s have open minded skepticism about innovation. Might solar+battery have innovation breakthrough that would lead to carbon free lowest cost power? Sure, maybe. Might the small individualized nuclear reactors have innovation breakthrough that would lead to carbon free lowest cost power? Sure, maybe. There is an old saying, in this case with double entree — don’t put all the irons in one fire.
Many environmentalists have a knee jerk reaction when the idea of nuclear power comes up in discussion. “No nukes!”. When I hear this I suspect disingenuousness of their true motives, attitudes and psychology. If atmospheric CO2 is an issue then an open minded problem solver considers everything — in the case of nuclear that includes potential innovations in fuel, reactor efficiency, use of spent fuel and the need for serious and expedited experimentation and exploration. Generalized opinions are mostly beliefs and beliefs always are high risk for subjective bias.
