Jason, If President Biden could somehow push a bill to end the filibuster before the senate it is my understanding there are 51 Senators on the record saying they will vote to keep the filibuster. I’ve lived all my life in Texas and the whole Democratic state house has been in senator Manchin’s office begging until this week. The answer as I have been told was “no”. My good friend congressman O’Rourke campaigns 16 hours a day every day for us to push Biden and Senate on filibuster and FTPA (I’m in the choir singing along), and, as I understand it there are 51 senators on the record saying they would vote against both. I’m for amending filibuster back the “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” style and for passing FTPA on simple majority. And, I don’t know a way to change the math or unaware that some Senator will vote different than their public position. If my understanding were accurate it would mean getting out the vote. I don’t believe government has broken down so completely state districts here in Texas will overturn legal votes. I don’t believe the obnoxious “voter integrity” laws pushed by the extreme right are as suppressive as “Jim Crow” laws and I believe statewide voting turnout is the only mathematical path. I’d love (no pun intended) to be incorrect, I call, plead and push everyday to office of President. Calling Ted Cruz or John Cornyn probably is not helpful.
