It seems to me this is a very multilayered multifaceted concept that requires uneasy and unwieldy self reflection that is scarce in the American culture. What came to mind is a theory proposed by CG Jung and others before and since that basically suggests unconscious remaining unacknowledged will erupt itself as a repressed energy. To begin an inward awkward struggle of self reflection is a complex and uneven task that even developed psychoanalysis and tolerate meditators are reluctant to be boastful about. In judging the judges projection can be in play like a mirror in a mirror. We are reaching literally for the stars and that is admirable. To search inward is an equally admirable and daunting journey. Soul healing, peace, tolerance, meaning, understanding — to be the solution — is agreed an individual task and one we have little practice of but will adopt if we are to evolve and survive as a culture.
