I think this story should be picked up as a script for a movie. My imagination went to the device that pivots somewhat as a prologue and epilogue — the “phone”. It struck my imagination how we extended the use of a noun even though the substance of the object has completely changed. 20th century a “phone” was a simplistic device for voice audio connection. 21st century “phone” audio connection is nearly an afterthought for the plethora of cyborg genre functionalities the device now performs integral to our lives. What about 2045? It’s somewhat comparable to calling a laptop computer a “notebook” — an old term for a radically different device. As a script for a movie and set in the future when our “phones” will be our full blow avatar the fate struck fellow in the movie would have intriguing competing dramatic mysteries both revealing, betraying and conflicting his search — the ever changing woman and the secretly held avatar. Like the Philip Dick short story “Minority Report” made famous as a movie directed by Spielberg and staring Tom Cruze — by 2045 the telltale difference between our avatar and “us”, including our humanity, may be only our unique eye retina. Will the lady transplant and give up her olive eyes, her last bit of humanity? It would make a subtle connection between Iris (both a flower and portal to the eye retina) to the use of flowers in the plot. How many plot twists might three entities (man, avatar, changing woman) create?
