I like this summary and would like to add a root cause belief held by the two families who live in Venezuela that I know 1st hand as good friends. I’m not representing this add as accurate, just a passionate belief held by a dozen Venezuela people I know who are life long multi generational Venezuelans. Their position is the political, philosophical and incentives going back 20 or more years to Hugo Chavez (I am not sure the exact details of the top issues) set up a root cause downward spiral for the Venezuelan people/culture and money system and on a course for dystopia and breakdown.

I only added this comment in the spirit that abstract exchange values (money) may have complex interwoven connections to social, cultural and system stabilities. If so the larger mix is complex, interesting and mostly uncharted for crypto (the one man’s comment about it being a message of resistance against the state). Kidnappings and ransom are reportedly epidemic, I assume that market is an adopter of alternate currency. These are the topics that I believe is one of the true values I believe Medium wants to capture — the broader dialogue of possible implications and meaning.
