Great article puncturing the Homo Sapiens arrogant fixation with naval gazing. I have lived last 12 years tending 80 acres dedicated as a nature refuge. I hug trees and talk to everything all day everyday. Birds land on me then look at me in surprise — oh, you’re not bush. I’m not sure it fits the paradigm of a pecking order, best I can tell after 12 years of it teaching me is that it all one thing. It’s accurate that if there is a hierarchy that dirt (complex, intelligent, diverse and fully alive) leads the charge. And, the dirt loves the microbes, carbon, secondary insect digestion of Raccoon scat. Who’s more or less than anything else, the whole thing is one thing (as far as it has taught me so far).
