For me this article presents an apolitical hypothesis that I find entirely plausible. It is a calm, reasoned possibility. In my view the Democratic Party has not responded in kind to President Trump’s modifications (probably guided by advisors). The Democratic Party it seems to me keeps leaning on the bad news of the pandemic, protests and unemployment in general seeming (to me) to be saying, “no matter how bad or gapped our position is, in our anger and emotion, we take the position we are not as bad as Trump”. My view would be that is a tenuous tactic — largely abandoning environmental concerns, a non-competitive or humane healthcare system, brutal immigration practices ongoing, rising student debt, an obsolete public school system, eroding infrastructure and wealth gap. If the premise of this article unfolds, and it may, millions of Democrats will be in a state of remorse for playing to win as “we are not as ugly as you” instead of focusing on listening and solving problems.
