Does American have a future? Of course. What kind is a matter of uncertainty. Super-volcanoes are a good thing, they are evidence of an active planet with enough molten heat in the core that the planet is stable through the electromagnetic effect.

A good offense may not be the best defense but it certainly helps. People are overwhelmed by the speed of change and barrage of information and misinformation. So, we make things up to comfort ourselves. Ideology, superstitions, fairy tales, religious doctrine, blaming others, totems, myths and divisive tribalism. Let’s disrupt the disruptive. We’ll never get there attacking the positions of our fellows. We love our certainty and answers …way more than we love the actual analytics or particulars of our personal positions and fiction (even though we pretend that’s not true). Our ideology isn’t about solution or merit in itself — it’s about the comfort of certainty of an answer.

Why am I active in politics and my local church? Because I love people (all of them — from black to white, from the most hateful racist to the most gracious saint, of every language, drunk or sober). It gets my mind off me and if I can help one person have a little better life so much the better. Yankee ingenuity is a persistent energy.

There is the college basketball coach, Chris Beard. He coaches at Texas Tech in the town of Lubbock which is home to the most loving, friendly and giving people anyone could ever meet sitting right in the middle of south plains which can turn to apocalypse Armageddon brown when the cotton crops are gathered just in time for basketball season. So he survives being an assistant to a famous coach, Bobby Knight. Out of it he learns a process, a methodology for building a team and executing a plan that takes aggression and commitment. He does really well with a offensive tactic that is basically geared to disrupt defenses. Until he finally gets a match up with the Duke Blue Devils. Duke’s whole roster is full of McDonald’s All Americans with a coaching staff deep and rich in credentials, they disrupt the disrupting offense and pretty well show they can beat the Red Raiders (Texas Tech) four out of five games. Super Volcano time. I am waiting to see what Coach Beard does. He astonishes me, he increases and emphasizes 3 point shooting. What does he have to lose? Gets the team to the championship game of the NCAA Division I tournament.

So, what’s the point? New tactics, new approaches, new actions. For me I’m all in to solution and new day. BETO 2020.
