Discounting, ignoring, discounting, uncomfortable exclusion and bemused embarrassment due to uncertainty or apparent non-material subjectivity does not reflect well as to maturity of western science. We continue to discover ways that basic forms of energy (nuclear/atomic, gravitational, electromagnetic) have aspects that defy material analog. In other words, a relatively repeatable mathematical model representation is not reality (comforting though it may be) and reality is infinite in it’s yet un-modeled, un-objectively represented nature.
