Brenden thanks for a great article. I am a member of a traditional Protestant Christian denomination and attend regularly and participate. I was raised in a mainline Christian church, we were there every time the doors were open. And I have adopted beliefs and meditation practices and comforting life views from the guidance, beliefs and tenets of Buddhism. At the end of your article you ask a great question about the influence, impacts and results — I think probably in a general way. I couldn’t help but ask myself how well the two have worked in my life personally for moving me toward peace, serenity, wisdom and love for others and all things. I think I can say I’m definitely better than I was and better for the faiths. They certainly have not fully “rebirthed” me into a state of spiritual enlightenment that is anywhere close to what set forth in both practices as ideal. My personal results are about as mixed as the cultural results.
