Beautiful poem. I have come to believe courage is a woman. Bravery, endurance, grit, heroism, tenacity and daring have been largely misappropriated by the patriarchy when it seems to me the history of Homo sapiens is replete with objective evidence that the essence, the very psyche of courage is feminine.
In a typical organization planning session be it business, philanthropy, research, science or military my perception is invariably a woman or the feminine side of a man asks the audacious and bold “why not?”.
I believe Sally Hemings had enormous influence on the best aspirations put forth by Thomas Jefferson. Crick and Watson get credit for discovery of the double helix when it is a matter of record that Rosalind Franklin fully identified the structure and freely handed it to them. Mileva Einstein-Marić battled hurricane headwinds of sexism in her pursuit of being awarded the highest credentials in physics and still collaborated and played a major role in development of the theory of relativity. This is just an unorganized stream of consciousness first three to mind women of inordinate courage. Courage is a woman and shamefully, grossly misappropriated by the lies of patriarchal oppression. If men had to bear babies there would be an abortion clinic on every corner.
