As a extraordinarily over privileged white male I take encouragement from this article. That may sound odd, I will elaborate. We all take micro insults — some fear or dysfunctionally intended, some unconscious and unintended. I believe in the message MLK brought us all of non-violence and the power of love as the response solution. Those who would say such a response means being a victim or doormat don’t understand it means standing tall, courageous, firm and confident but with inner peace and resolve. If a black woman in America who experiences 1000 times what I face can do it — then following her powerful example and leadership, I can do it.
