As a college student I recoiled from C.G. Jung writings. Raised in a fundamentalist Christian home I interpreted many of his views as watered down generic versions of the religious dogma I was fleeing. Now 65 years old, I find comfort and assurance in the theory that my ego and soul are two different energies — and that what my soul wants from me is my authentic life … even if my ego is kicking and screaming against how uncomfortable, scary and uncertain the action is.
